On Tuesday night, Blue Journey was one of a dozen acts performing and wowed the audiences and the judges with a hauntingly beautiful performance danced to Radiohead. Visually, the couple danced from a room and into a painting where a virtual ocean came poured over them as they danced.
The Blue Journey performances incorporate a dance routine synchronized to a multimedia video performance behind Mishoe and Kivlighan, creating the effect of the dancers interacting with their own shadows.
The performances are choreographed by David Middendorp.
Mishoe, born and raised in Huntington, began his dance career at the Art Center School of Dance with Ella Hay at the age of 8. He attended the North Carolina School of the Arts for three years of high school before getting a job with the Boston Ballet.
Mishoe then performed with the Dutch National Ballet in Amsterdam before becoming director of The Academy of the Dance Arts in New Jersey with his wife, where he is an instructor today.
"America's Got Talent" airs Tuesday at 9 p.m. on NBC, with the results show airing on Wednesdays at 9 p.m.
