Worker admits embezzling $130K from W.Va. fund
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) — A former Morgantown parks and recreation employee has admitted embezzling more than $130,000 from a federal fund set aside for a senior volunteer program.
Amy Mick pleaded guilty Thursday in Monongalia County Circuit Court to embezzlement, uttering and two counts of forgery.
Assistant Prosecutor Brandon Flower says the 31-year-old started using her work-issued credit/debit card for personal use in 2006.
The money was embezzled from the Retired Seniors Volunteer Program, which helps older citizens find volunteer opportunities.
The program is run by the Morgantown Board of Park and Recreation Commissioners, which Mick worked for.
Mick is free on bond. A sentencing date has not been set.
