Mall hosts annual rose show

September 05, 2010 @ 10:00 PM

BARBOURSVILLE -- The Huntington Rose Society presented its 56th annual Rose Show on Sunday at the Huntington Mall.

Rose enthusiasts from across the Tri-State and beyond competed for trophies in more than 40 categories. The categories included single blooms on a cane, rose blooms floating in a bowl of water or shown in specially made picture frames or boxes and most fragrant rose.

There also were different classes for polyanthas, floribundas, shrub roses, climbers and old garden roses.

Judges looked for the roses that did not have damage to their blooms and were in their most perfect form.

Here are a few of Sunday's winners. Read Tuesday's Herald-Dispatch for a complete list.
