Kelly Clarkson, Jeff Dunham among entertainment lineup at Ohio State Fair
HUNTINGTON — If all of the area county fairs have just gotten you warmed up, you’re in luck.
On the heels of so many of the area county fairs are area state fairs. Kicking off the area state fair circuit is the Ohio State Fair from July 29 to Aug. 9, at the Ohio Expo Center, located at 717 East 17th Ave., in Columbus.
Hours are 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily except Aug. 9, when the fair closes at 8 p.m.
Admission tickets are $10 (ages 13-59), $8 (ages 5-12 and ages 60 and over) and free for children under 5. In addition, ride coupons are $1. Most kiddie rides require one coupon. Others require two or three coupons per ride. Special ride-all-day wristbands are available for $20.
Some discounts are available. Save on gate admission with $6 tickets available through Aug. 9 at Kroger, participating AAA locations with AAA membership and Ticketmaster outlets. Purchase ride-all-day wristband vouchers for $17 at Ticketmaster outlets through July 28. The vouchers will be redeemed for a wristband at the fair. Parking is $5.
Both short and long-term camping is available.
As is the case with most state fairs, there is no shortage of major entertainment. National act performers taking the stage are: Kelly Clarkson (July 29), Jeff Dunham (July 30), Keith Sweat (July 31), Justin Roberts (Aug. 1), Alice Cooper and Blue Oyster Cult (Aug. 1), Little Big Town (Aug. 2), Relient K (Aug. 3), Kenny Rogers and Glen Campbell (Aug. 4), Foreigner and Eddie Money (Aug. 5), Demi Lovato (Aug. 6), Eric Benet (Aug. 7), David Cook (Aug. 8) and Rascal Flatts (Aug. 9). Ticket prices vary for each of the national act show. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster.
Other features include, roving entertainers, creative arts competition, K12/Ohio Virtual Academy Youth Center, special exhibits, sporting events, Wild About Monkeys show, BMX Pros Bike and Board Trick Team, local bands, antiques and collectibles pavilion, crafts, demonstrations, concessions, special promotions and more.
In addition, a variety of competitions will take place for academics, bands, creative, fine arts and livestock. There is also a horse show and lots of special events like a kiddie tractor pull, auctioneer bid call competition, an all-breed dog show and much more.
The Ohio Expo Center is located just north of downtown on 17th Avenue off of Interstate 71.
