Borders to host author Saturday

BARBOURSVILLE — Borders in the Huntington Mall will be hosting a book signing and celebration from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, featuring West Virginia author and editor Michael Knost.

Knost will sign copies of “Writers Workshop of Horror,” a book offering writing advice from successful and nationally known storytellers edited by Knost. Contributors include Clive Barker, Joe R. Lansdale, F. Paul Wilson, Ramsey Campbell, Thomas F. Monteleone, Deborah LeBlanc, Gary A. Braunbeck, Brian Keene and Elizabeth Massie.

The celebration will include a writing contest. Knost will accept manuscript submissions of 5,000 words or less. Regional horror/fantasy/ghost tales are preferred but any genre of fiction will be considered. There is no entry fee, and entries will only be accepted in person during the two-hour event.  Each submission must include the author's name, address, phone number, and e-mail address, if available.

The contest winner will be announced at at Writers Workshop of Horror event at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, at the Borders store. The writer does not need to be present to win. The winner could be published in an upcoming anthology book edited by Knost and would receive payment upon publication.
