W.Va. man escapes from home confinement

Jul. 03, 2013 @ 12:00 AM

WINFIELD, W.Va. -- Deputy sheriffs from Putnam County are searching for a man who escaped from home confinement.

William Wesley McCallister, 54, of Scott Depot, W.Va., was last detected June 23 at a boat ramp in Dunbar, W.Va., according to a press release issued by Putnam County Sheriff Steve Deweese.

Investigators believe McCallister's GPS home confinement bracelet was removed. The release states he had been serving a 5-year sentence for being a felon in possession of a firearm and misdemeanor second-offense driving under the influence. Other charges are pending in addition to those related to the recent escape.

McCallister had been confined to an apartment along Hedrick Road, just off Teays Valley Road.
