January 28, 2012 @ 12:35 PM

BLUEFIELD, W.Va. (AP) — A 71-year-old Lindside man has pleaded guilty to killing his wife and step-daughter.

WVAA-TV in Bluefield reports that Gerald Allison entered a plea to first-degree murder for the 2011 shooting death of his wife, 65-year old Dorothy Masters.

He pleaded to second-degree murder for the death of 42-year old Melissa Burks-Wills.

Allison had previously admitted to killing the two women with a rifle at his home.

Police say the shooting was witnessed by Burks-Wills’ eight-year-old child.

Allison will be sentenced next month.
