WVU board may discuss media contract Friday
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — West Virginia University's Board of Governors will be talking about tuition, capital investments and more as it meets in Morgantown.
The agenda for Friday's session at the Erickson Alumni Center includes a closed-door discussion of legal matters and issues involving commercial competition.
It doesn't specify which matters will be discussed, but they could include allegations of impropriety over how WVU has gone about selling multimedia rights to certain athletic events.
WVU signed a tentative licensing agreement with Winston-Salem, N.C.-based IMG College in January.
WVU later suspended talks after reports that two board members had ties to a company angling to subcontract with IMG. WVU says the board played no role in contract talks.
West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey began looking into the situation after a competing bidder complained.
