Snowshoe Mountain open today, after big early season snowfall
SNOWSHOE, W.Va. — Snowshoe Mountain Resort is now open.
Snowshoe has received more than two feet of natural snow since late Saturday, and has added several feet of man-made snow with around-the-clock snowmaking operations, allowing the resort to open five days earlier than previously scheduled.
With the best early season conditions on record, Snowshoe will open with 6 trails and 2 lifts on today. The resort will celebrate this early opening with discounted $29 lift tickets available today through Tuesday, Nov. 25.
“This is the best early season scenario we could have imagined,” said Snowshoe President and GM Bill Rock. “We’re thrilled to be open earlier than expected and Mother Nature couldn’t have cooperated any better, providing the best early season conditions possible.”
Snowshoe saw the first flakes of the season in late October and the resort has quickly accumulated more than 35” of natural snow. This snow, combined with the best snowmaking system in the region, has allowed the resort to pile up several feet of snow across most of its slopes. Long-term forecasts show more natural snow in the forecast, as well as optimal snowmaking conditions through early next week.
