HUNTINGTON — Authorities are searching for a convicted burglar, who escaped late Sunday from the state’s Huntington Work Release Center.

Thomas Dunn, 41, was at the facility completing a sentence out of Mercer County, in southern West Virginia. It stemmed from a conviction on three counts daytime burglary and a single count obtaining money by false pretenses, according to a release from the agency.

Dunn was working at a Shoney’s restaurant in Huntington. The supervisor contacted Work Release at midnight advising Dunn had not returned from taking out garbage. Dunn was last seen at 11:30 p.m. Sunday.

Dunn is described as 239 pounds and 5-feet, 9-inches in height. He has multiple tattoos including a cross at his right eye, a teardrop at his left eye, the word “Patsy” on his right forearm and “Mickeymouse” with flames on the left forearm.

Anyone with information about Dunn’s whereabouts should call Huntington Work Release at 304-529-6885.
