Golf scramble set for May 11

LAVALETTE -- Stepping Stones Inc. will host a four-person scramble golf outing fundraiser at Sugarwood Golf Course on Saturday, May 11. Tee time is at noon.

Registration for a four-member team is $300. Dinner will be provided.

Hole sponsorships are available for $100 and donations are also being accepted for prize drawings and to offset the expense of the meal. Prizes will be awarded for longest drive and closest to the pin.

All proceeds from the event will benefit Stepping Stones' projects, including installation of a stand-by generator system, repairs on their gravel driveway, carpet replacement, repairs to the front porch and sidewalks and other projects. Stepping Stones Inc. is a fully licensed child welfare provider with more than 30 years experience working with troubled youth and their families.

21st annual food drive scheduled for May 11

HUNTINGTON -- The National Association of Letter Carriers will conduct its 21st annual food drive to combat hunger on Saturday, May 11. Letter carriers will collect non-perishable food donations as they deliver mail along their postal routes.

Individuals are encourage to leave a sturdy bag containing non-perishable foods such as canned soup, canned vegetables, canned meats and fish, pasta, rice or cereal next to their mailbox before the regular mail delivery on Saturday.

A drive-thru drop-off location will be hosted from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, May 11, at Kindred Communications, 555 5th Ave., Huntington.

First Priority Federal Credit Union will host a cookout at its branch location, 500 Virginia Ave., Huntington, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, May 10. Anyone who presents a donation will receive a free lunch.
