Ronald McDonald House readying for June fundraiser
HUNTINGTON -- The Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Tri-State recently celebrated a $5,000 donation from CSX to help pay down debt. Now, officials are focused on the golf tournament and dinner fundraisers held each June.
The dinner and dance kicks off at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, June 1, in the Don Morris Room at the Memorial Student Center at Marshall University. There will be live music from The Respectables, along with a silent auction.
Then, at 1 p.m. Monday, June 3, golfers can tee off in the First Sentry Bank Ronald McDonald Charities Open.
"This event provides critical funding that supports our mission to care for families of seriously ill children who come to us during time of crisis," said Roger Rash, the development director. "As a community-supported organization, we cannot give enough thanks to the businesses and individuals throughout the region who support this effort."
Three-time Re/Max World Long Drive qualifier Steven Thacker will show off his 400-yard drives, while golfers can enjoy a pre-tournament lunch and cocktail buffet founding their rounds.
Golf registrations are $1,000 per foursome or $300 per individual. Tickets for the dinner are $100 per person, or $70 for participating golfers. There also are sponsorships ranging from $100 to $3,000 still available.
More than 10,000 families have stayed at the house on 17th Street behind Cabell Huntington Hospital while their children received medical care, services and treatment from local hospitals and programs.
