Church hosts showing of ‘Fireproof’ movie

Jan. 22, 2009 @ 11:35 AM

SCOTT DEPOT — Area residents are invited to see a pre-DVD release screening of the box office film “Fireproof” at 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at St. John United Methodist Church, 4013 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane.

Babysitting services will be provided by St. John Youth Groups (supervised by adults). Donations will be accepted, but are not mandatory.

Starring Kirk Cameron and Erin Bethea, “Fireproof” tells the story of Fire Capt. Caleb Holt, who can put out fires on the job, but can’t keep the flame going in his marriage. As Holt (Cameron) and his wife (Bethea) begin divorce proceedings, Holt’s dad asks his son to try an experiment: The Love Dare.

The film has been featured on national TV shows like Dr. Phil and the Today Show, touted for its inspirational take on the importance of a strong marriage.

The screening is free, but an optional donation will be taken at the door. Light refreshments will be served during intermission.
