Gasoline prices remain higher than a month ago
HUNTINGTON -- Local gasoline prices have fallen a nickel in the past week, but the average price remains 30 cents more expensive than a month ago, according to AAA's Daily Fuel Gauge Report.
The average pump price in Huntington's metro area stood at $2.69 per gallon as of Friday morning.
The state average was $2.76. That ranked ninth most expensive in the nation when compared to the 50 states and the District of Columbia.
Speedway gasoline stations reported actual pump prices between $2.65 and $2.69 in Huntington. Similar gasoline prices were reported in Putnam and Wayne counties, along with Lawrence County, Ohio.
AAA said economic factors have translated to higher retail gasoline prices for motorists.
Statewide gasoline price averages in Ohio and Kentucky remain cheaper, according to AAA. Ohio's average of $2.61 ranked 16th cheapest, while Kentucky's $2.63 was 19th cheapest.
