W.Va. 2 reopens following serious crash
LESAGE — W.Va. 2 reopened to traffic just after 2 p.m. Tuesday, following a late morning crash that seriously injured two people in Lesage.
Cabell County 911 received word of the incident at 11:15 a.m. on W.Va. 2, just north of its intersection with Oak Hill Road. Both directions were closed until 1:20 p.m., when authorities opened one lane.
Cabell County Sheriff’s Sgt. Todd Wentz said the crash involved two northbound vehicles. A preliminary investigation indicates the van made rear-end impact with the truck, which was stopped at the time on W.Va. 2.
The van’s driver and passenger were transported to an area hospital. Wentz described the driver’s injuries as “very serious” and the passenger’s as “serious.”
The truck’s driver was treated at the scene and released to a private party, Wentz said.
