November 30, 2012 @ 07:12 AM

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — The annual Joyful Night celebration and tree lightings are approaching.

Officials say the event is set for 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 6 at the State Capitol Complex. It is free and open to the public.

The events begin at the North Plaza with music by a high school band and a children’s chorus. Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin and First Lady Joanne Jaeger Tomblin will then light a tree donated by Ray and Janet Fewell of Winfield.

Then it’s on to the South Plaza, for music by another high school band and the lighting of a tree donated by Al and Louise Tolliver of Danese.

Other performances and events are set in the first floor Rotunda of the Capitol, the Governor’s Reception Room, the Governor’s Mansion and the Culture Center.
