Detective's bureau investigating robberies

November 22, 2009 @ 12:15 AM

IRONTON -- Ironton Police Chief Jim Carey said the detective's bureau is investigating the connection between four armed robberies at businesses in town over the past week.

The most recent robberies occurred around 6 p.m. Friday. Carey said a white man wearing a hooded sweatshirt demanded money from staff at the Quik Stop on South 3rd Street in Ironton. A few minutes later, he robbed the Ironton Little Caesars Pizza at 4th and Adams streets.

Carey said the man told employees at both business he had a gun.

The incidents are similar to two other robberies that occurred in Ironton recently, Carey said. The two other other robberies occurred Tuesday at the BP Gas station on Liberty Street and on Thursday at the KFC on Jefferson Street.

Carey said the incidents are similar because of the nature of the robberies and the description of the robber.

Call the Ironton Police Detectives Bureau at 740-532-5606 if you have any information on the robberies.
