HUNTINGTON -- A vehicle and its garage were destroyed in an early morning fire, which is being investigated by detectives with the Huntington Police Department.

Dispatchers received word of the incident at 1:24 a.m. Wednesday in the 100 block of Baer Street.

A neighbor reported hearing a loud explosion from across the street, and, when he looked out of a window, he saw a vehicle on fire, according to a report filed with Huntington Police.

The car and the carport it was under were destroyed in the fire, and some damage was reported to the siding and roof of the home. The total damage caused by the fire was estimated at $22,000, according to the report.

No significant injuries were reported, said Huntington Deputy Fire Chief Jeffrey Earl.
