State Police looking for new cadets
SOUTH CHARLESTON — The West Virginia State Police soon will begin testing for its new class of cadets, according to a press release issued by the agency.
Recruiting posters, employment brochures, applications and other information can be found at local State Police detachments, the agency’s Web site or local colleges.
The first phase of testing begins soon. Several dates have been set for January and February. It involves written and physical ability tests.
Applying requires each person to bring a completed application, a photo identification and physical fitness attire. A second application is not necessary for those who have previously applied.
The cadet-troopers will earn $33,024 annually through training. The salary increases to $40,288 upon graduation. Completing the 18-month probationary period will earn the trooper a two-year degree in police science through Marshall University.
Testing will be provided Jan. 17, at Bluefield State College; Jan. 24, at the State Police Academy in Institute; Jan. 30, at the Quality Inn of Morgantown; Jan 31, at Washington High School in Charles Town; along with Feb. 6 and Feb. 7, at the State Police Academy in Institute.
Applicants may choose the date and location most convenient to them. Directions can be found at the State Police Web site.
