Cabell County gets new deputy

November 03, 2009 @ 08:43 AM

HUNTINGTON — The Cabell County Sheriff’s Office is at full strength for the first time in the young administration of Tom McComas.

The new deputy, Richard Call, took his oath of office Monday in Cabell Circuit Court. The 44-year-old will earn $30,260.88 annually.

Call is a Huntington area resident. He and one other rookie deputy still must attend training at the West Virginia State Police Academy in Institute, W.Va., McComas said.

The first-term sheriff inherited four vacancies during his transition into office. All were due to retirements.

The Cabell County Commission approved Call’s hiring at its Thursday meeting last week.
