PATH developer willing to delay line consideration

November 04, 2009 @ 05:00 PM

CHARLESTON — The developers of a three-state power line project say they’re willing to delay regulatory consideration of the project until January 2011.

The proposal comes after staff lawyers for public service commissions in West Virginia and Virginia said applications in their states for the 765-kilovolt Potomac-Appalachian Transmission Highline, or PATH, should be dismissed.

The lawyers argued since Maryland had dismissed the application in that state, PATH would have a starting point in West Virginia, but no ending point. They also argued any consideration of the line should be delayed until new electrical demand studies are released early next year.

Power line developers say they are willing to extend the decision date so they can refile their application in Maryland.
