W.Va. gov appoints businessman to House

November 20, 2009 @ 03:20 PM

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — An Eastern Panhandle real estate agent and substitute teacher has been appointed to fill a vacancy in the West Virginia House of Delegates.

Gov. Joe Manchin appointed Kearneysville resident Terry Walker on Friday to fill the vacancy created by last month’s resignation of Bob Tabb.

Tabb left the House to become an assistant commissioner in the state Department of Agriculture.

Walker will represent the 56th Delegate District, which covers portions of Jefferson and Berkeley counties.

Walker is a licensed real estate agent in West Virginia and Virginia and is a substitute teacher in Jefferson County for grades five through 12.
