Cabell Huntington donates $130,000

November 21, 2009 @ 01:04 PM

HUNTINGTON — Cabell Huntington Hospital will donate the funds needed to continue the healthy eating work started in Huntington by celebrity chef Jamie Oliver as part of his upcoming ABC television show.

Hospital officials made the announcement Saturday during the Food Revolution celebration in downtown Huntington. The hospital will donate $80,000 to Cabell County Schools to help train school cooks and another $50,000 to Ebenezer Medical Outreach in its efforts to take over Jamie’s Kitchen.

Oliver has said those were the needed amounts to continue the work he started. He’s hoping to see lasting changes to the school lunch menus in Cabell County. Ebenezer will keep open Jamie’s Kitchen in an attempt to take the healthy eating objective to the rest of the community.
