W.Va. delays power line decision until Feb. 2011
CHARLESTON — The West Virginia Public Service Commission has denied a staff recommendation to dismiss an application for a multistate power line.
Instead, the commission said Tuesday it will delay its decision on the Potomac-Appalachian Transmission Highline, or PATH, until Feb. 24, 2011.
The line is to run from West Virginia through Virginia to Maryland. Maryland has already dismissed the application.
Staff with Virginia’s Corporation Commission also sought to dismiss the application, but a hearing examiner ruled against the request and any modification to the decision-making timeline in that state.
West Virginia’s PSC said a delay would allow the commission to receive updated information on the project, and allow developers to file a new application in Maryland.
