Longtime W.Va. judge Daniel McCarthy dies
BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — Senior Status Judge Daniel McCarthy, who was a West Virginia jurist for more than 25 years, has died. He was 78.
State Supreme Court spokeswoman Jennifer Bundy says McCarthy died Wednesday at his home in Bridgeport.
A Korean War veteran, McCarthy was a Harrison County commissioner for 12 years before becoming a circuit judge in that county in 1983.
He retired in 1996 and became a senior status judge and civil mediator.
Supreme Court Chief Justice Brent Benjamin says McCarthy was a dedicated judge and a good person.
Funeral services are scheduled for Monday at All Saints Catholic Church in Bridgeport.
