W.Va. lawmaker Miley named new Judiciary chair
CHARLESTON — House Judiciary Vice Chairman Tim Miley will now take over the committee in the West Virginia Legislature.
Miley succeeds outgoing Chairwoman Carrie Webster, who was appointed by Gov. Joe Manchin last week to be a circuit judge in Kanawha County. Webster stepped down on Friday.
House Speaker Rick Thompson named Miley, of Harrison County, on Tuesday. Thompson also chose Delegate Mark Hunt of Kanawha County as the committee’s vice chairman.
The 43-year-old Miley was first elected to the House in 2004. Like Thompson and Webster, he and Hunt are lawyers. All four are also Democrats, and that party holds a majority in the 100-seat House.
