Man pleads innocent in pipe bomb case

CATLETTSBURG, Ky. -- A Greenup County, Ky., man pleaded innocent Friday in Boyd County Circuit Court on charges of attempted murder and use of a weapon of mass destruction (a pipe bomb).

Thomas Keith Biederman, 51, of Russell, Ky., was indicted on the two felony charges Monday. Judge George B. Davis III set bond in the case at $150,000. Davis set the case for trial June 25.

Biederman is charged with trying to kill his wife by placing a pipe bomb in her car last year. The bomb exploded in an Ashland parking garage injuring Janie Biederman. She was treated at an Ashland hospital for burns and cuts and released.

He was represented in the court proceedings by Michael Curtis, an Ashland lawyer.
