Concert adds to fun of downtown car show
HUNTINGTON -- Hot rods and classic cars lined two blocks of 3rd Avenue on Saturday during the second day of the 2013 Cruzin' on the Plaza, presented by the Pullman Plaza Hotel.
The event started last year in an effort to provide downtown Huntington with not just a car show but a full-on festival. This year, the schedule grew to include Saturday night's concert by The Esquires.
Crystal Robinson, who took over marketing and design for the hotel earlier in the spring, said she and a team of 10 came together to ensure the event would be a success. And with the turnout and nice weather, they appear to be getting what they had hoped for.
Tammy Minnix-Rozzi of Ona was there with her 1963 Cadillac Coupe Deville, beside her husband's Corvette. She said it was great to see so many different vehicles from a variety of eras.
"Each year, all that's to happen is it's going to get better," Minnix-Rozzi said.
Cruzin' on the Plaza wraps up Sunday with a scenic road tour through Cabell County, which Robinson said brings the classic car show to residents of the county. The car show and live DJ will be from noon to 4 p.m., and an awards ceremony will take place at the hotel at 3 p.m.
