The following information was provided by reports filed with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office:
STOLEN VEHICLE: A 46-year-old man reported he parked his vehicle along Saltpetre Road in Fort Gay the evening of June 5 while he was attending a church in that area. When he got out of church, he discovered the vehicle was missing. The man told the deputy he left the vehicle unlocked and the keys in the ignition.
A witness told the deputy he saw a man standing near the vehicle.
The vehicle was located at 12:30 a.m. on June 6 parked in a wide spot off of Big Sandy River Road. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
No arrests had been made at the time of the report.
STOLEN AIR CONDITIONER: A 52-year-old man reported on June 4 that someone stole his air conditioning unit, worth $800, from his property in the 6400 block of Tug River Road in Glen Hays on May 11. A witness told the victim that two men loaded the unit into a pick-up truck, and the victim confronted the two men about the incident. The victim said the two men told him they would get the unit back, but they had failed to do so at the time of the report.
STOLEN PROPERTY: A Kenova man reported someone took five cast-iron stoves, worth a total of $250, from his property along Dock’s Creek Road in Huntington on June 4. A neighbor reported seeing a suspicious red van in the area at the time the incident was believed to have taken place.
