CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — An environmental group says West Virginia had at least 93 record breaking weather events in 2012.

A report released Tuesday by the Natural Resources Defense Council says West Virginia set 53 heat records, 23 snow records and 17 precipitation records.

The report lists West Virginia as being among the top 10 states nationally for the percentage of weather stations reporting such events. Tennessee topped the list with 36 percent.

Besides heat and precipitation records, West Virginia also experienced 15 large wildfires last year.
The environmental group is based in New York.
