Grayson restaurant reopens after fire

February 20, 2013 @ 12:31 PM

GRAYSON, Ky. — A McDonald’s restaurant in Grayson, Ky., reopened Wednesday, two days after a fryer fire closed the facility. The incident happened Monday at the restaurant located on Carol Malone Boulevard.

The Grayson Volunteer Fire Department said they received word of the fire just before 6 p.m. Monday. They arrived to find the restaurant was full of smoke and one of the fryers was on fire.  It was contained because of the overhead sprinkler and quick action of the manager, who used three extinguishers before being taken to an area hospital for smoke inhalation.

The Fire Department believed the incident stemmed from a ruptured gas line that wore thin from the fryer being moved for cleaning.

Wednesday’s reopening was announced by a restaurant spokesman.
