Coating of March snow in the forecast

Mar. 04, 2013 @ 07:15 PM

HUNTINGTON — The weather during this first week of March seems to be a reminder that spring doesn’t officially arrive until the 20th.

The National Weather Service in Charleston is calling for up to an inch of snow through Wednesday in the Tri-State area, though it will start with a rainy Tuesday, as highs climb toward 50.

The transition will take place overnight into Wednesday, as temperatures drop to below freezing. A half inch of snow is possible by Wednesday morning, with up an additional half inch through Wednesday night. Wednesday’s high will only reach about 37.

Then, we’ll get a sneak peak of what spring is supposed to be like as sunshine returns Thursday and hangs around through Saturday. Thursday’s temperature should take care of any white spots on the ground, as highs creep into the mid 40s.

It should reach 50 on Friday and 60 on Saturday, with sunny skies both days.
