A group of unidentified people jumps into the icy water of Lake Wissota, Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011 at the Polar Bear Plunge held near Chippewa Falls, Wis. The annual event, a fund-raiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwestern Wisconsin, traditionally is held on New Year's Day, but was moved up one day so as not to conflict with the final Green Bay Packer NFL football regular season game. According to Craig Monson, CEO of the non-profit organization which pairs kids with adults for one-on-one mentoring, the event raised nearly $5,700 and involved 47 plungers.
