AARP meeting for Nov. 9 to be dedicated to veterans
HUNTINGTON -- The Huntington Area Chapter of AARP will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9, in Room 212 of the St. Mary's Heart Institute.
The meeting will be dedicated to veterans. Refreshments will be served at 5:30 p.m.
The main speaker will be Ron Wrobleski, president of Vietnam Veterans Chapter 949, chairman of the Veterans Committee for Civic Improvement and president of the West Virginia Marine Corps Coordinating Council.
The meeting's moderator will be Cabell County Commissioner Bob Bailey, who is also a former Marine.
A second speaker, a state AARP Foundation representative, will talk about a new AARP office in Huntington to help seniors secure employment.
Christmas gifts for seniors and needy children also will be discussed.
The meeting is open to the public, AARP members and all veterans.
The Huntington Area Chapter of AARP meets the second Monday of each month. Anyone age 50 and older is invited to join. Dues cost $5 per year with membership in the National AARP. This includes refreshments, monthly speakers and other events.
