Volunteers preparing park for winter

November 06, 2009 @ 12:00 AM

HUNTINGTON -- Three volunteers with the Huntington Area Revitalization Coalition and the Huntington Community Gardens group are seeking help in getting Harris Riverfront Park ready for the winter.

"We're taking care of roses and getting the park ready for winter," said Robin Howell, a co-founder of HARC. "We're putting down mulch and cutting back roses and other plants."

Since the group formed in 2006, Riverfront Park has been the subject of many volunteer projects and hours, as part of the Keep Huntington Growing Beautiful project.

Anyone interested in helping finish the park's seasonal preparation can come out at 10 a.m. Friday. For more information, call Howell at 304-522-4939.
