Medicare seminar set for Nov. 16

HUNTINGTON -- An event designed to explain the "Medicare A,B,C,Ds" has been rescheduled for 10 a.m. to noon Friday, Nov. 16, in the Harless Auditorium on the campus of Cabell Huntington Hospital.

The program will provide Tri-State seniors with useful information about Medicare's open enrollment period, which continues through Dec. 7. The event is sponsored by Cabell Huntington Hospital's Senior Services Department and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

Anyone who now has Medicare, will soon enroll in Medicare or assists someone with their Medicare coverage is invited to attend the free seminar. Space is limited and registration is required by calling 304-526-2695.

Information about Medicare and the current Open Enrollment Period will be presented by experts from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and Cabell Huntington Hospital.

Democrats to meet

HUNTINGTON -- The Democratic Executive Committee will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19, at the Cabell County Commission Chambers at the Cabell County Courthouse.

Hospice to host holiday grief session

ASHLAND -- Community Hospice will host a special holiday community-based grief counseling session at various times and locations in November and December.

"Grief and the Holidays," designed for anyone who has suffered a loss and is facing the holidays without their loved ones, will be available at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, at River's Bend Health Center, 335 Township Road 1026, South Point, Ohio; 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3, at Community Hospice, Ironton office, 2122 S. 9th St., Ironton; and 10 a.m. or 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, at Community Hospice, Ashland office, 1480 Carter Ave., Ashland.

Thanksgiving food to be given out

WAYNE -- The Huntington Area Food Bank will be giving out Thanksgiving food items in Wayne County.

The giveaway will take place on Thursday, Nov. 15, at the Wayne Community Center on W.Va. 152 in Wayne.

Registration starts at 9 a.m. Recipients must bring proof of residency, which can be a utility bill or driver's license. Anyone picking up food for someone else must bring a notarized permission slip.
