Car crashes off I-64 bridge, lands near Lowe's
BARBOURSVILLE -- A single-vehicle crash caused a minor traffic delay and created a response challenge for emergency responders Friday evening.
A motor vehicle accident along I-64 just past the East Mall Road entrance ramp at the Huntington Mall was reported to Cabell County 911 dispatchers at 5:24 p.m. Friday.
The driver of a vehicle traveling westbound on the interstate lost control of the vehicle, which came off of the interstate and fell off of a bridge, landing partially in the Mud River not far from the back of the Lowe's store at the mall.
Emergency responders had to access the crash via an access road to the river from White Chapel Cemetery.
Dispatchers said it appeared at least one person did suffer injuries in the crash, but they said the injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.
One lane of I-64 westbound was closed for a short time while crews responded to the scene.
