Hope's Place to host golf scramble, mystery dinner
RUSSELL, Ky. -- Hope's Place will host its 10th annual golf scramble Friday, Oct. 18, at Hidden Cove Golf Course at Grayson Lake State Park. Registration begins at 8 a.m., followed by a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Entry fees are $75 per person or $300 for a four-person team. Hole sponsorships are available for $100.
Hope's Place will also host its 10th annual mystery dinner theatre at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, at Bellefonte Pavilion, 1000 Ashland Drive, Russell, Ky. The evening will include appetizers, music and more.

OLBH to offer free men's health expo
RUSSELL, Ky. -- Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital will host a free health expo for men from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, at the OLBH Women's Center, 1000 Ashland Drive, Russell, Ky.
The event features free health screenings including prostate screenings, glucose tests, blood pressure checks, bone density exams and hemoglobin tests.

Battle of Lake Erie bicentennial to be marked
PUT-IN-BAY, Ohio -- Ohio's governor will mark the bicentennial of the Battle of Lake Erie.
Gov. John Kasich will deliver the keynote speech at the bicentennial ceremony Tuesday at Put-in-Bay on Lake Erie's South Bass Island.
Tuesday marks the 200th anniversary of the U.S.-British clash considered a turning point in the War of 1812.
A fleet of tall ships gathered to re-enact the battle last week.
Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry captured a British fleet near Put-in-Bay during the battle that's remembered for his command: "Don't Give Up the Ship."
