WVU’s 23rd president officially takes reins
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) — West Virginia University President James Clements is officially on the job.
On his first day as the school’s 23rd president, Clements will have his picture taken at the Mountainlair for an ID card. Spokesman Dan Kim says he’ll then meet with his senior officers at Stewart Hall.
Clements has been easing into the job for weeks, meeting with the Faculty Senate and attending both on- and off-campus dinners and meetings.
He was hired in March from Maryland’s Towson University, where he’d been the provost, and will make $450,000 a year.
The presidency came open last fall when former President Mike Garrison resigned over an unearned master’s degree scandal involving Gov. Joe Manchin’s daughter, Mylan Inc. executive Heather Bresch.
