Beshear announces environmental grants
FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — Gov. Steve Beshear has announced grants totaling more than $2 million to expand recycling and reduce solid waste.
The Kentucky Pride Fund, administered by the Kentucky Division of Waste Management, is awarding 47 of the grants.
Environmental Secretary Len Peters said the program will allow more Kentuckians to participate in recycling and other programs aimed at reducing solid waste in landfills.
The Big Sandy Regional Recycling Program received the largest grant, $164,760. The Daviess County Board of Education was awarded nearly $150,000.
