W.Va. steel magnate’s former mansion up for sale
NEW CUMBERLAND, W.Va. (AP) — The former summer home of West Virginia steel magnate E.T. Weir is back on the auction block.
No bids were submitted for Rosemont Manor during an auction on June 6. According to public notices, another auction was to be held Tuesday at the Hancock County Courthouse in New Cumberland.
Completed in 1932, the 10,000-square-foot stone mansion in Weirton overlooks the Ohio River.
Rosemary Susko acquired the mansion in 2004 during the former Weirton Steel Corp.’s bankruptcy and converted it into a bed and breakfast.
J.P. Morgan Chase Bank holds the mortgage for the property. Bank representatives have said a trustee was appointed to sell the mansion after the loan became delinquent.
