Lewis, W.Va., group revives, renames jubilee
WESTON, W.Va. (AP) — It will have a new name and sponsors, but organizers say Jackson’s Mill will have a family-friendly Labor Day jubilee, after all.
Earlier this month, board members canceled the 35-year-old Stonewall Jackson Heritage Arts and Crafts Jubilee, citing low attendance and funding problems.
But a new organizing committee wouldn’t let it die. It’s renamed the event the Jackson’s Mill Jubilee.
Organizer Susan Patterson says it will celebrate the state’s past, present and future, beginning with live music and dancing Sept. 4, and continuing through Sept. 6.
Crafters will be set up on the green, and living-history actors will be on hand.
Admission is $3 per person, with an extra $1 charge for those who want transportation from the parking areas.
