Kanawha judge nominated for federal bench
CHARLESTON — President Barack Obama has nominated Kanawha County Circuit Judge Irene Berger for a seat on the federal bench.
Berger was nominated Wednesday to replace U.S. District Judge Dave Faber in West Virginia’s Southern District.
She has served as a circuit judge for 15 years. She also has served as an assistant prosecutor in Kanawha County and with the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Berger’s nomination must be confirmed by the U.S. Senate. Senators Jay Rockefeller and Robert C. Byrd both applauded Berger’s nomination.
