Three arrested on drug charges in Portsmouth

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio _ Three people have been arrested in Portsmouth following a drug bust in Scioto County, according to the Southern Ohio Drug Task Force.

Narcotics related search warrants were served at two locations in Portsmouth Thursday afternoon, by task force members along with Ports police and detectives from the Scioto County sheriff’s office, according to a news release.

After search by law enforcement, officers seized about 130 grams of suspected heroin with a street value of $18,200, $4,400 in cash, a firearm, digital scales and other materials suspected of being used for the purpose of trafficking in drugs, according to the release.

Arrested were: Joshua M. Walls, 33, of the 1400 block of Park Street, Portsmouth, Aaron M. Knolton, 24, of Dayton and Brandon L. Jackson, 32, of the 1500 block of Grant Street, Portsmouth, according to the release.

Walls and Knolton were charged with trafficking in heroin, possession of heroin, and possession of criminal tools. Jackson was charged with possession of heroin and having a weapon while under disability.

Knolton is being held on a $252,500 bond in the Scioto County Jail, Walls is being held on a $50,000 bond and Jackson is being held on a $12,500 bond, according to the release.

Tips from the public were a factor in the investigation, according to the release.
