Police search for 2nd car involved in wreck on Hal Greer

Apr. 18, 2013 @ 11:00 PM

HUNTINGTON -- Police are looking for a red vehicle they believe caused another car to nearly crash into a building Thursday afternoon.

The incident occurred at approximately 11 a.m. Thursday in the 1200 block of Hal Greer Boulevard.

Firefighters had to extricate the driver of the black Toyota passenger car, but she was alert as emergency medical personnel wheeled her to the ambulance. She was transported to an area hospital.

A bystander at the scene said she heard "two loud booms" while inside her house, and stepped outside in time to see first responders arriving at the scene.

Huntington police officer Cpl. Cass McMillian said initial reports are that a red passenger car and the wrecked Toyota were both traveling southbound on Hal Greer Boulevard when the red car drifted into the victim's lane and struck her car, causing her to lose control of the vehicle. That vehicle jumped the curb, grazed a traffic light pole and came to a rest in the landscape outside the Cabell Huntington Surgery Center, narrowly missing the building. The red vehicle fled the scene, he said.
