Power surges force closure of Cabell County Courthouse
HUNTINGTON — The Cabell County Commission closed the courthouse Thursday afternoon because of several power surges.
County Manager Chris Tatum said after consulting with the county’s maintenance director, the courthouse was closed at 2 p.m. The power surges destroyed two air-conditioning motors that will have to be refurbished or replaced, he said. Computer and phone systems were also affected.
“Due to the possibility of additional loss, we closed for the day,” Tatum said. “Unless otherwise announced, the courthouse will be open for regular business at 8:30 a.m. Friday morning.”
