W.Va. council picks sites for traveling exhibit
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — The West Virginia Humanities Council has selected six sites to host a traveling exhibit on the role of sports in American culture.
The council says it is sponsoring a state tour of the new Smithsonian Institution traveling exhibit “Hometown Teams” beginning February 2014.
Officials selected museums and cultural and community organizations to hosting the exhibit and provide public programs about their local sports culture.
The sites selected are: the Parkersburg Art Center, the Buck Harless Community Center in Gilbert, the Preston County Sports Museum, the Randolph County Community Arts Center, the Weirton Area Museum & Cultural Center and the Morgantown History Museum.
