Carter Caves hosting open house Sunday afternoon
OLIVE HILL,Ky. — Carter Caves State Resort Park in Olive Hill, Kentucky, is hosting its open house from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9.
Go chill with Santa and Mrs. Claus, then escape the Christmas rush by taking an afternoon hike at Box Canyon or with a cave tour at X Cave or at Cascade Cave, the largest of more than 200 caves in Carter County.
Refreshments will be served, and local entertainment has been scheduled throughout the day. Call 1-800-325-0059 or go online at www.parks.ky.gov and click onto Carter Caves.
While at Carter Caves, pick up info on their epic, Winter Adventure Weekend that runs Jan. 25-27 with more than 100 trips that include: winter horseback riding, backpacking, canoeing, rock climbing, tree climbing, rappelling, pistol and rifle shooting workshops, and back after a hiatus — wild cave trips.
The web site (www.winteradventureweekend.com) launched on Dec. 7. Online registration begins on Tuesday, Dec. 11.
Registration is $30 for adults (ages 13 and up) and $20 for children (6 to 12).
