Police searching for missing girl

Dec. 06, 2012 @ 07:12 AM

IRONTON — The search is on for a missing, teenage girl in Ironton.

Authorities are searching for Amber Farmer. The 14-year-old’s parents last saw her about 4 p.m. Wednesday. They live at the Storms Creek apartment complex in the 1500 block of Lawrence Street.

Neighbors told police they spotted her walking into a nearby, wooded area.

The Huntington Police Department used a bloodhound to track Farmer through a wooded area adjacent to her apartment complex. The canine lost her scent, and the search failed. The Ohio State Highway Patrol also provided a helicopter to no avail.

A more complete search will take place in the daylight.
Investigators have no evidence of foul play, but they are concerned for her safety due to Thursday morning’s freezing temperatures.

Farmer was last seen wearing a pink hat and walking her dog on a leash, while carrying a a yellow backpack.

Anyone with information about Farmer’s whereabouts should call the Ironton Police Department at 740-532-5606 or the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office at 740-532-3525.
