Jun. 18, 2013 @ 04:07 PM

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — West Virginia's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for May inched down to 6.2 percent.

That's down from the April rate of 6.6 percent, which was the lowest in four years.

WorkForce West Virginia said Tuesday the number of unemployed fell by 3,300 to 50,200.

Employment gains were recorded in mining and logging and manufacturing, while the service sector recorded a couple hundred job losses.

Through May, total unemployment is down 8,600.

The national unemployment rate is more than a full percentage point above West Virginia's.
